A Garden State of Mind

Updated: Sep 13, 2021

Mental health is defined as “a state of complete physical, mental, spiritual and social well being in which each person is able to realise one’s abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, and make a unique contribution to ones community”

Mental health is such an integral aspect of every single persons life and within the current climate that we are facing as a human race, it has become frighteningly heightened for so many. At ALG we saw an opportunity to combine the benefits of outdoor green spaces and their intensely positive impacts upon mental health. As a company we are passionate about reinforcing these principals and incorporating green space elements into our designs to create productive and useful spaces that benefit our clients in this way.

Green spaces are areas of grass, trees, or other vegetation set apart for recreational or aesthetic purposes in an otherwise urban environment. These are our local Botanical Gardens, parks, community gardens, playgrounds and even your own backyard. We tend to use these spaces to socialise, connect with friends and family, fitness and a space to unwind and relax. The beauty lies within the moment that you interact with green spaces and the experience one has when they are surrounded by them. Being close to nature has been shown to be associated with lowering levels of stress and lessen symptoms of anxiety and depression.

ALG will be focusing on improving for the future. Improving your consecutiveness to your green space, we will be implementing these into our designs with improving your spaces and consecutiveness at the forefront. Creating outdoor spaces that can bring families and friends together, spaces to relax and escape the rigours of life at the moment. You cannot put a price on you mental wellbeing. In such a time as this, if we can create sanctuaries of peace and happiness amongst an otherwise chaotic world then we will be doing our part.

With love ALG
